Description

The Zohar ends its introduction by discussing 14 "commandments" alluded to in the first two verses of Breishit which are prerequisites for stable mystical religious practice. The first concerns "yirah." For the Zohar, yirah as "awe" is a source of humility and transcendence; worship based on fear, however, is not only less ideal but empowers demonic forces.
