Description
The mishna defines how well a person has to guard his beheima from damaging with shein or regel to be patur (exempt) from paying for damages.
It lays down as well the halacha where the owner of the beheima guarded it properly from damaging (ie. he secured the beheima by locking it up in a fenced in area) but in nevertheless escapes. The escapes happen in a number of ways with the halacha varying depending on the way the animal escaped: (a) regular or abnormal winds blowing open the gate, or by (b) an unexpected breach in the wall at night, or by (c) robbers who either just broke the wall down or actively took the animals out of the fenced in area.
