1. Title:
      Author: Aryeh Naiman

I was surprised to hear that RSZ"A is quoted as saying that there is no source for this din (minhag?) of having 3 readings of a sefer torah which is taken out of its permanent shul, as this custom seems to me to have wide-spread acceptance. (By the way, where is this brought down in RSZ"A's ספרים?) I found the following in the It's a little hard to believe that RSZ"A was not aware of this Aruch haShulchan, but perhaps, since the עה"ש is himself referring to a minhag without a source (even though טעמו עימו that 3 times creates a "קביעות", this is not considered to be a "source" for a din.

Rav Shlomo Zalman was very aware of the minhag but he said that there was no Halachik basis for the minhag. The Aruch Hashulchan often quotes minhagim, but RSZA was not looking for a minhag but rather for a halachic basis of this minhag which the AH does not bring.
