Description

This shiur discusses the inspiring contributions of Klal Yisrael towards the Mishkan in Parshat Vayakhel. Simply put, when Klal Yisrael see a communal issue, they work together to fix the problem. The shiur shows how this theme relates to Parshas Shekalim and the mitzvah of tzedaka in general. The shiur also discusses the Halachik limitation on giving more than one fifth of one’s money towards tzedaka. Finally, the shiur discusses an inspiring initiative from a chayal, Jacob Lerer, which encourages people to find a way to contribute their strengths towards Klal YIsrael during the current war. The shiur also brings in Rav Aharon Lichtenstein’s article about Esther, where Rav Lichtenstein explains Esther’s transition from viewing herself as an individual to viewing herself as a member of Klal Yisrael.
