As Israel is about to investigate the mistaken decisions leading up to the tragic success of the Simchat Torah surprise attack of Hamas, and the forthcoming investigations (and changes!) regarding her political and military leadership, it's interesting to learn how Rav Kook deals with the problem of the inevitable mistakes of communal and national leaders, whether political, rabbinic or military. The class deals with the mistakes of Moshe Rabbenu, David HaMelech et al, as well as Rav Kook's own autobiographical questioning of some of his own innovative and controversial ideas (Ayn Aya, Shabbat v, 43)
