  1. Title: Representing non literal interpretations of bereishit
    Author: False == 1 ? Anonymous : David Wein &##44;

    Dear Rabbi Wieder, I thoroughly enjoyed the shiur. I have a question in representing non literal interpretations however. I am an informal educator in bnei akiva. For a camp, it is proposed that a program is run regarding non literal interpretations of bereishit. Unfortunately, I am not comfortable with this, as whilst I personally subscribe to a non literal view as propagated to many rishonim and achronim, the non literal view presented is being done in conjunction with teaching kids about biblical criticism. Having regard for the fact that many kids are not frum/religious and are not aware of kiarei emunah prior to this program and unfortunately many do not believe in or are apathetic towards God, can someone represent non traditional views, such as exposing kids to biblical criticism from a halachic standpoint, insofar that it may lead to non belief in God as there is a lack in grounding for many kids and madrichim, as most kids have unfortunately been provided with a limited chinuch. Kol tov, David Wein
