Description

There is a contradiction about whether "omer muttar" is classified as "shogeg" or not. Four resolutions are offered: 1-2) Murder is different, either in its narrower defintion of "shogeg," or in its categorical exlusion of halachic ignorance as an excuse. 3) "Omer muttar" can refer either to ignorance of halacha or to ignorance of reality. 4) "Omer muttar" can refer to either categorical permissiveness or to failure to properly define the threshold between permitted and forbidden.
