Fifth in a series entitled, "Rhyme and Reason:Mitzvot in Moreh Nevuchim." This week, we begin to explore the approach of the Rambam regarding reasons behind the korbanot. In Chapter 30, Rambam espouses the idea that the Torah can frame certain mitzvot in response to historical context. What are the implications of such a theory? We will look at a similar issue as it comes up in another mitzvah - shaving one's pe'ot. How can historical reasons be relevant today. We will elucidate Rambam's opinion over the next several shiurim.
