Description

Lecture given on a bus. Rabbi Schachter discusses the Rosh( student of the Maharam of Rottenburg). The Rosh was from Germany, and would paskin like the Tosafot, not like the Sefardim, even though he was in Toledo. There is no chinuch on aveilus. If a minor becomes bar mitzvah during the sheloshim, does he start observing aveilus? Does the avel, who burried a relative in the morning, recite another shemonah esrei during mincha(tashlumin for shacharis)? Why did the Maharam die in prison? What law, quoted in the shulchan aruch, was taught by the Maharam, while in prison? Does one wear a linnen garment without tzitzit? Where and when does the rule requiring rabbis greater in number and knowledge, to repeal another rabbinic law, apply?
