Description
Lecture given during dinner. The Rambam wrote the order of the mesorah from Moshe until Ravina and Rav Ashi, forty generations. The Meiri continued to write the generations, until his own rebbi. Why did the Ramabam not continue with the mesorah, but rather stop with Ravina and Rav Ashi? Can an amora argue with a tana? Was Rav a tana or a amora? Can a rabbi today paskin against amoraim, or just against the gaonim? Rav got semicha, while Shemuel did not. When Rebi Yehuda Hanasi edited the mishnayos, were they written down, or transmitted orally?
