Description
The goal of Halacha is the objectification of religion. The halacha sets rules that serve as a dam against the subjective current which courses through the emotional life of the universal man of religion. A subjective religiosity comprised of spiritual moods, of emotions and affections, will never be blessed with success. The Rav tells the story of his Father, Reb Moshe, who was guiding the shofar-blower on Rosh Hashana. The latter was a Chabad Chasid, very knowledgeable in the mystical doctrine of the Alter Rebby, who began to weep. Reb Moshe asked him, "do you weep when you take the lulav"?
