Description
We will analyze the distinction between the maaseh and the cheftza with regard to the mitzvos of Yeshiva BeSuccah and Nisuch hayayin. The status of Yayin Mazug with regard to Kiddush on Shabos will be discussed. In all these cases we will demonstrate that when the din is in the cheftza, it is essential and defines the very quality and status of the object. When the din is in the maaseh, it is mechanical and technical in nature. The addition of water to wine will be an external barrier that does not alter the essence of the wine as a Halachic entity. We will see that often the mitzva is enhanced by a maaseh but the maaseh is not an absolute requirement. The cheftah however must lend itself to the implementation of that maaseh.
