Description

Following an overview of the concept of "accidental" as it is defined in the various sugyot which we analyzed in earlier shiurim, we will demonstrate that in various sugyot "accidental" takes on a different meaning. Holachas haDam in Avoda is, according to Rebby Shimom, merely mechanical. Similarly, hanachas Hachefetz might be merely mechanical in Meleches HoTza'ah. At times, the definition of a din as an accidental element is a relative concept. Relative to chovas Tefilla, Hazkaras Hayom is accidental. The latter, however, expresses a chiyuv unto itself and as such is essential. Bedikos in testimony are accidental to Gufa shel Aydus, but form an ind't, essential chiyuv of VeHitzilu. Is bittul HaEsah essential or accidental to the aveira?
