Description

According to the Ran, in the case of safek in Heseiba, we need to be machmir, otherwise we are left with no Heseba at all. Elsewhere, the Ran says that we cannot apply the Safek Derabanan rule to a city that may or not be walled, but rather let such a city read on the 14th and not on the 15th. Applying that to Heseba should have led the Ran to conclude that the first two cups of wine should require Heseba but not the second set. We will analyze this seeming contradiction in the Ran. Part of this shur will be dedicated to an explanation of why four cups of wine. The last part of the shiur will address the question of the obligation of a woman in the four cups of leil Haseder.
