Description

Afikoman, the final Achila, is a term that applies to both Korban Pesach and Matzah, and indicates that there should be nothing eaten following the Pesach or the Matzah at the end of the Seder. The final Matzah was chosen post-Churban to remind us of the Korban. Eating meat as a Zecher leKorban was not a serious option. In this shiur we will analyze the controversy over the two achilos of Matzah that we are familiar with, which of the two serves as the Matzas Mitzvah of "BaErev Tochlu Matzos? Is it the matzah at the beginning of the meal, or the Afikoman at the end of the meal? We will study the many ramifications of this machlokes. We will study those Rishonim who teach that originally it was Matzah Ashira that was used for the 1st Matzah.
