Description

Sponsored by Avram and Sharon Blumenthal in memory of Avram’s father, Bernard Blumenthal ברוך בן יוסף ע"ה and of Avram’s grandfather, Hyman Tannenbaum חיים בן אברהם יצחק ע"ה As we approach Hanukkah, we focus on our observances and the religious messages of the holiday. But why is there no Sefer in Tanakh for Hanukkah? We will explore themes in Hazal and later rabbinic thought, and consider how they diverge from the Apocryphal Books of the Maccabees that were excluded from Tanakh. The shiur will give us a deeper appreciation of the nature of Hanukkah.
