We will study the sugya in Makot 7b regarding the question: who flees to the Ir Miklat. All depends on the precise definition of Shogeg. Some situations are considered Karov L'Meizid, others Karov L'Ones. The precise definition of negligence is critical in this context. We will also study the concept of Yerida L'Tzorech Aliya, when the murderer is moving in a downward direction but his ultimate purpose is to go upward. This will lead us to the case of the Katav (butcher) and the four possible scenarios in which he killed the victim.
