Description

Rashi in two places establishes a definition of Melacha She'Eina Tzricha L'gufa. It is a melacha done in order to free oneself of a nuisance but not to create something new. The situation which requires implementing the melacha was thrust upon a person against his will. We will see that Tos' objects to Raishi and we will try to explain Rashi and defend Rashi's opinion against the attacks of Tos'. We will analyze the words of the Rambam re: Meleches Kibuy (extinguishing a fire), and explain the debate between the Rambam and Tos'. We will discuaa the controversy between the Ramban & Tos' regarding cutting one's nails is it Tzricha L'gufa or not.
