In this shiur we will study the sugya of Mitzva HaBa'ah B'Aveira, beginning with Tos' and the Ramban, and ending with the Yerushalmi. We will present the controversy as to whether the Psul is Deoraita or Derabanan, and does it apply to all mitzvot. We will investigate the possibility that if the Psul is only Derabanan we will need "LaChem" to exclude Gazul on the first day; the aveira can only pasul on the balance of the Chag. We will study the insight of HaRav Meizelish in Tos' according to which there are two categories of Psul: a single Ma'aseh cannot be simultaneously a mitzva & an aveira; an aveira cannot facilitate a mitzva. In both cases the aveira is related to the mitzva. Yerushalmi operates with a different definition of the Psul.
