According to Shmuel in Masechet Shabbat 107a, it is permissible to capture a destructive creature such as a snake in order to protect oneself from harm. Can this opinion be reconciled with the view of Rebby Yehuda re: Melacha She'eina Tzricha L'Gufa, the opinion codefied by the Rambam? This shiur will project us towards a definition of Meleches Tzeida. We will apply one of the major tools for Brisk, i.e. the difference between an external "add-on" requirement and an essential one.
