Description

We will study the controversy between Rav Nachman and Rav Yochanan in Masechet Yoma 82b: regarding training the children for fasting on Yom Kippur. The two concepts are Chinuch LeShaos and Chinuch LeHashlama. We will raise the issue of whether Chinuch is the exclusive responsibility of the father, as would seem from the sugya in Nazir, or does the mother share this responsibility. Is the child himself obligated, miDerabanan, in the mitzvah of chinuch, or does the Katan remain a "Lav bar Chiyuva" since only the parent is obligated to train his child?
