Description

We will study the mishna in Masechet Yoma 85b, and the sugya that defines and classifies the Kappara power of the Sair, of Yom Kippur, and of Teshuva. We will see that every mechaper must be accompanied by Teshuva with the exception of the Sair HaMishtaleach. The latter is Mechper without Teshuva on 'aveiros kalos', i.e. sins that are classified as 'light', such as Asehs & regular Lo Ta'asehs. We will try to understand the Rambam's definition of the Kapparas HaSair and how it works. We will compare that kappara to the kappora of Yom Kippur according to Rebby. The latter maintains that Y"K is Mechaper without Teshuva; however we will study the Tos' Yeshanim who reinterprets the opinion of Rebby.
