Description
In this shiur on the mitzva of the Sair HaMishtale'ach, we will present an apparent contradiction in the Rambam regarding the Kohen Gadol's fulfillment of the mitzva of the Avodas HaSair. Is the mitzva complete the moment the Sair reached the Midbar, or only later when the Sair was pushed off the cliff? The Rav, in Chidushei Hagram VeHaGrid, establishes that there are two distinct kiyumim in the Mitzva of the Avodas HaSair. This chiddush will serve as an outstanding example of tools for Brisk. We suggest that the original precedent for this conceptual Brisker tool is the statement of Chazal reconciling the 2 contradictory commands Avraham Avinu received: 1) take up your son Yitzchok as a Korban Olah; & 2) don't take the knife to your son.
