Description
We will study the Chilukei Kappara (categories of atonement) which divide the violations of the Torah into the following categories: mitzvos aseh, lo ta'aseh, chiyuv kares and misas beis din, and the most severe sin is Chillul Hashem. Each of these categories is subject to Kappara thru the mechanism of a 'mechaper', whether it be Teshuva, Yom Kippur, Yisurim (suffering), or death. Each of the latter three mechaprim must be accompanied by Teshuva. We will study the sugya of Chillul Hashem as it applies to a Torah scholar who behaves in a way that arouses suspicion in the eyes of the onlooker - even thou there was no aveira done. We will see that the Torah requires a high standard of behavior especially re: interpersonal relationships.
