Rebbe Elimelech realized that Hashem brought opposition because of his sins. The way to deal with opposition is to be silent and not to get involved. If we look at another Jew negatively, then look into our self. There are two levels of tzaddikim: 1) deveikus (cleaving) all the time to Hashem; 2) praying all the time to Hashem. Rebbe Elimelech’s fame had spread so far and wide that it was simply irrational, illogical and financially stupid to be a Misnagid (in opposition). Rebbe Elimelech brought in huge amounts of business from Chassidim who came to visit him.
