Description

The Avos (Patriarchs) armed us with the qualities to fight the areas of the 3 cardinal sins- murder, sexual immorality and idolatry. The 3 pillars on which the world stands, are the means by which to combat these. Yaakov perfects himself in these 3 areas and arrives in Shechem (Nablus) to eradicate these problems  with the  power of Shabbos. Avraham "dug many wells" which is a metaphor for the discovery that a person  can work to perceive G-dliness even though Hashem in essence is unknowable. The metaphysical transformation which takes place in the Jew is the result of the work of the Avos. Converts draw their strength from Avraham but need to seek Hashem Who will respond. Hashem initiates the connection with a Jew.
