Description
P. 53. What is the main focus and need of our learning? When a person has a strong urge to learn the pnimius (innermost part) of Torah; this reveals his yiras (fear of) Hashem. Some people need pnimius Torah to "live" as a Jew, it is their soul sustenance, and therefore more much than just a stroll in the pardes (lit: orchard; the study of the secrets of Torah). Pnimius HaTorah, however, cannot be a person's only source of learning. Each person must ensure that he has his "meat and potatoes" in Torah, but also needs to have his path back to the "main road,", to Gemara, halachah, and mainstream learning. From R' Mottel Zilber's Agrah D'Parkah, 140, part A, Parshas Masei 5771. The apparent contradiction between those who say we should, and those who say we should not deeply learn pnimius haTorah.
