Description
Rav Kook's Ma'amar "Al pnimius haTorah." p. 324, piece 14. EDITORIAL WARNING: Although Rav Weinberger shared some very funny stories, he was clearly hurting deep inside during today's shiur.
We must be careful to cultivate our inner potential; if not, then the great teachings of Yiddishkeit will lose their luster and brilliance over time. In our generation we no longer see the simple and devoted emunah (faith) of our grandparents and great-grandparents. Asking any your adult (and many grown-ups) to explain the fundamentals of Yiddishkeit [e.g., the Rambam's 13 principles] will reveal an astonishing ignorance. A weak natural hergesh (feeling [for Judaism]) combined with a lack of knowledge confuses everything. Exactly what derech (path) are the kids no longer on when we label them "off the derech?" Just forty or fifty years ago, we possessed idealism and fire. The trademark of our generation, especially outside Eretz Yisrael, has become to spend our time on unimportant things. Omitting the "L"-word from the song. Meaningless and empty conversations and relationships.
