The same way that a person cannot live only with the 10 commandments yet without the 10 utterances of Creation (which signify simply spirituality), so too, a person cannot just live the simple life, swaying to inspiring music with the lights out, yet ignore the essence of Torah, its halachos and the more complex aspects of Yiddishkeit. The leaders of the Jewish nation cannot be satisfied with merely the revealed Torah - they require spiritial nourishment which comes from the nistar (hidden) parts of Torah. The very spiritiual and natural bond between Eretz Yisrael and Klal (nation of) Yisrael is similar to an individual Jew's inherent connection to all of Torah, including its pnimius (inner aspects). Always on fire for Eretz Yisrael; the sincere desire of so many to make aliyah (immigrate to Israel). Looking for different ways to connect to Hashem. Where have the old-time zionists, especially the secular ones, gone?
