Description

Once we know our purpose in life, how could we do things that are inconsistent with that goal? Do we do the things that bring us closer to G-d, and stay away from things that make us farther away? Doing mitzvos alone is not enough to make us feel close to G-d. Mitzvos can’t be done as 613 separate nice things. Mitzvos all have to be different parts of one way of life to get close to G-d. We need to do the things that Hashem wants us to do, not just the things that make us feel good. We must ask ourselves if we are doing mitzvos as a way of getting close to Hashem or just because that’s what we are used to doing.
