3 aspects of davening (prayer): 1) asking for specific things; 2) realizing that Hashem is the only address; and 3) the zechus (merit) to speak to Him. Hashem tzilcha (is our shadow): the way we act with Hashem is how He acts with us. The difference between tz'aaka (screaming) and k’daber (speaking) ish el raahu (a person with his friend). Why we have the whole order of davening until shmoneh esrei (silent prayer) in Shacharis (morning prayer service). Why davening has become longer now than it was in the time of the gemara (Talmud).
