Thoughts, emotions and actions attributed either to the neshomoh (soul) or guf (body). A Jew's essense is pure good; the evil inclination is an external force. Klal gadol (a great general rule): I can change aspects of my behavior, but I cannot change who I am; therefore, if I identify with my body, which is a mostly bad external covering for my soul, then I don't stand a chance. Why diets are so difficult for us. Whe have never managed to separate between our body and soul. "Elokai neshamah..." every morning we affirm that our soul is completely pur and good. Changing our babies' diapers...and our own.
