Description

p. 63. What is the intention driving our mitzvos (good deeds)? How is this learning affecting my life? The first step - I want my learning to bring me to love Hashem. A measure of yiras Shamayim (fear of Heaven) - how do I react when things don't seem to go my way? Am I in shul (synagoge) to get closer to G-d, or merely to fulfill the commandment to pray? A survey before davening (prayer): Why are you here today? The reason people talk in shul is because they want to (ed: seems simple, doesn't it?). Very intellectually learned, and not one inch closer to G-d. If I don't really want to daven (pray) and learn, then I won't reach the goal. Where does a person want to go with all this Judaism? Learning, yet disconnected from Shabbos and Hashem. Moshiach is not coming because of the conceited (and quite possibly very learned) ones among us.
