P 87. What are yiras (fear of) and ahavas (love of) Hashem, and how do we acquire them? Re-acquiring the natural, built-in taste for Hashem. The neshamah (soul) is enclosed in the guf (body) and therefore believes that its feelings of longings are for physical things. Dveykus (attachment) and hislahatus (excitement/fire) for Hashem are different concepts. Dveykus - I AM attached to Hashem; I have reached my destination; hislahatus - I am chasing and running after Him. The five parts of a Jewish soul. Everything that moves, is moved through "ru'ach" - which is connected to hislahatus. Dveykus is found in the "neshamah" of the person., since the neshamah portion of our soul is, by definition, completely attached to Hashem - but how do we reveal this? Relative and absolute greatness.
