P. 97. Our defective way of thinking, damaged by the power of imagination. When a taivah (overwhelming desire) forces us into irrational behaviour. If we would only understand that we will not have the pleasure we thought we'd have after we obtain this or that goal. Going into the delusion with our eyes wide open, and still.... What is the beginning of the process to clear and purify our minds? The silliness of our plans for the future: "Will I marry the doctor, talmud chacham or doctor? How many children will we have?" Who knows what Hashem will bring? Harmless delusions versus the very real dangers of living part in reality and part in delusions. When it's not how I imagined it would be, I give up. If I know that this girl is not for me, then I need to leave my illusions and let her get on with her life without me.
