Description

Page 141. The way a person loves himself is how he loves Hashem. When we want to give nachas ruach (spiritual satisfaction) to Hashem, so to speak, we become upset at those who do not. The mystery of Creation is the secret of daas, which is defined as 'a thing and its opposite'. Teenagers rebel because they don't feel that they can give nachas to their parents. A person who 'loves Hashem' but does not care that other people are not giving nachas to Hashem, is really just involved in self-love. Simcha (joy) is when we bring our potential into actual. When potential doesn't come out, there can be oneg (pleasure), but not simcha. Shabbos is oneg, while Yom Tov is simcha. We should try to reach pure kavana (intention) when serving Hashem.
