Description

Page 179. "Yesod hachasidus…." (the foundation of chassidus and the root of pure and perfected service of Hashem….). Is a person's belief in Hashem something that he knows, was taught, or whether he's living and experiencing a life of emunah (belief) and kirvas (closeness to) Hashem. What is my obligation in this world - what does Hashem want me to do, what does Halachah (Jewish law) say? This is a two-part question: first, clarify the purpose, and second, pursue that goal. This is not a part-time obligation - it fills our entire existence and all of our day, every single day of our life. What exactly was it (other than Shabbos) that was new and different when Hashem gave us the asseres hadibros (ten commandments) at Har Sinai? An obligation does NOT mean guilt. When we seem to live from one minyan to the next, with no thought of Hashem in between; the 4-hour Shabbos nap. And the one obligation is: to delight in Hashem!
