Page 181. The term "ta'anug" (pleasure and delight), as wonderful as it is, is not usuallly associated with "lishmah" (for the sake of Hashem); so how can "enjoying Hashem" be the purpose of our entire life? The glue (dveykus) that holds man and G-d together is true ta'anug. "Out of Yeshivah and the seforim remain closed" can only happen if there is no delight in learning. Ta'anug is the key that brings us to dveykus (attachment to Hashem). The danger of conditional love or a relationship which depends on something else. Although the delight is the glue that helps us connect to Hashem, once that connection is firm and strong, it will continue - in a healthy relationship - even during times when there is no delight. What gives a person his chiyus (lifeforce)?
