Description

Page 185 (recap). The purpose of creation - taking ta'anug (pleasure) and delight in Hashem. What is the nature of this delight, and why is it so hard to achieve it? Seeking and achieving (temporary) fullfilment with the "next" thing. Are we reaching partial or complete pleasure? Hashem created and "programmed" every Jew for complete ta'anug which cannot be quenched by things of this world. Overindulgance in this world does not allow the true pleasures Hashem has prepared for us to enter into our neshamos (souls). Why would anybody want to partake of a pleasure that you "have to develop a taste for?" [e.g., cigarettes]. On the other hand, if we don't have a taste for emunah (faith) or learning, we might not even want to try to learn to enjoy it. Knowing that the pleasures of this world are not "it." Training ourselves to recognize and thirst for true pleasure.
