Page 189. The ultimate experience of cleaving to Hashem is when we are not encumbered by the body. Nevertheless, we can cleave to Hashem in a limited fashion in This World, for example on Shabbos. If our existence is not defined by This World, then our devykus can be now. A tzadik fuses heaven and earth and is not bound by the restraints of This World. We are free agents who can decide where we live in This World. We keep the mitzvos but do not fulfill the tachlis (purpose) of them. We want our life to be one of chiyus- our davening and learning should take our breathe away. The Mesillas Yesharim’s entire purpose is to bring the dead back to life.
