Page 203. The spark of holiness within us motivates us to come closer to Hashem. Fulfilling the mitzvos is the beginning of our spiritual path. Our thoughts, acts and emotions should be according to the mitzvos. Most observant Jews only keep the action part of the mitzvos. Merely "action" does not bring us closer to Hashem. We must strive to become who we really are which is a part of Hashem. Our love of Hashem must be reflected in our love of our fellow Jews. There are many "halachic" husbands who fulfill the kesubah (mariage obligations) but are not menshes (well behaved).
