Description

p. 238. When a person raises himself, that hashpaah (influence) elevates the things he uses to do mitzvos. The body was the last thing created. An Adam who eats like a chazer (pig) is worse than a chazer, because he has bechira (free choice) to go with his neshama, but instead eats only to satisfy his body. We can see anything that Hashem gave us and thank Him for it. The world is a reflection of man, thus we have responsibility for this world. How do all of the four levels of existence get their aliyah (elevation) through Adam? The Zohar says that all of creation is modeled after Adam Kadmon, a non-physical, deep, hidden form. Our job is to reveal that form of Adam in all physical things. When one level serves another, for example when a plant uses minerals, the lower level rises up, but only when they ultimately serve man. The tzaddik cares about his possessions because he sees the Adam in them, and they are connected to his own neshama.
