Description

p. 247. Everything in the world is waiting for the ish kadosh (the holy person) to interact with it, to elevate it. We can learn about how the world serves the tzaddik and how the tzaddik utilizes the world through Yaakov Avinu's use of the rocks to sleep on and how they joined into one under his head. The one place that the rocks gathered to is referring to the tzuras haAdam (form of Adam), the highest point in creation, the head of the tzaddik. The face of the man that is engraved on the merkava (chariot) in Yechezkel's vision is the image of Yaakov Avinu. Hashem told Adam to look carefully at the beautiful creation and to not ruin it, meaning Adam did not have to build the world, only to maintain its high level. The tzaddik creates the path that leads to Hashem. The purpose of having pleasure in the world is not to indulge in physical pleasures, it is to use the physical world in avodas Hashem.
