P. 286. There are no shortcuts to perfect ourselves [or at least work on that goal]. And, we must use all the means, e.g., mitzvos (commandments) fixing our character traits at our disposal. If there is nobody who can say that he never has failed and sinned, then how can the RamChal ask us to use ALL available means [and if we don't, we can't achieve the purpose of our life]? To address this impossible challenge, Hashem gave us teshuvah (return, repentance). Trying to sell "damaged" mitzvos to Hashem - when we look at a mitzvah under the magnifying glass, the small imperfection looks much larger. In other words: In the world of truth, they see the whole truth!
