Description

P. 293. The point of having a more comfortable life is to be able to focus on what's important; to have more yishuv ha'da'as (peace of mind), more time to learn to daven (pray), more time for our families. We must approach everything in life with the question: "How is this going to help me grow into a better person and eved (servant of) Hashem?" What is the one basic pre-condition to be an eved Hashem? A great person's conversation, regardless of how mundane the topic, will relate to Toras Hashem. A "bar da'as" is a person who integrates what he learns into his person. One of the first signs of an am ha'aretz (ignoramus) is that he is satisfied with how much he is learning. The only place where one can learn to think like Hashem, is the Torah. A person must ask himself which "power" is conducting his life - his mind or his body?
