Description

Yom Kippur wears a number of disguises. Yitzchak has aspects of fear, judgment, and concealment, yet his name means laughter. The seeming contradictions of Yom Kippur actually point to the transcendence of the day. Laughter is a response to seeing the opposite of what is expected. The true meaning of teshuvah is to return and rediscover the essence of who we are. The essence of Yom Kippur is to realize our great potential and to use it to serve Hashem.
