Description

Lag BaOmer is hardly mentioned in halacha. A minhag (custom) is not written or explained, but we know it will bring simcha to Hashem. The chalaka (cutting the 3-year old boy's hair) is a minhag from the Arizal. Hair is the symbol of being stuck in this world. Teshuvah (return) is likened to disentangling dirty hair. There are two states of being in Judaism: the state of excitement and growth, and the state of guarding and protecting. There is such a thing as a tzaddik who cannot sleep because Jews are going through troubles. Everybody has unanswered questions that we are afraid to ask. Rebbe Shimon Bar Yochai gave permission to reveal the secrets of Torah and to write them down. He can bring the dead back to life.
