Description
There is a new Haman in our generation who is threatening the Jewish Nation. He is standing over us and we feel threatened and vulnerable. Rav Weinberger gave this chizuk and exhortation during a Purim mesibah (party) at the home of our friend Yehudah Leib Boruch. He began by telling us a story abou the son of the holy Ba'al Shem Tov, Reb Tzvi. He then discussed, in the context of the Pasuk "Eli, Eli, lamah azavtani" (my G-d, my G-d, why have You forsaken me?) - once at Yam Suf, and once at Har Sinai. Moshe's astournding request to be erased from all of Torah. Esther and her desparate struggle on behalf of the Jewish People. The inner quality of the names Michael and Yisrael Going through the Yam Suf when davening just doesn't seem to work. When davening (prayer) doesn't seem to be working anymore, we must completely give ourselves over to Hashem. Mesiras Nefesh means our telling Hashem that we simply can't live without him. The pressure on Mordechai from other Jews to just bow down once to avert the terrible decree.
