Description

A piece from Rav Kluger on the Avodah of Kohen Gadol on Yom Kippur. The Tzadukim (Sadducees) erroneously thought that all preparation for lighting the ketores (incense) happened outside of the Holy of Holies, whereas the Rabbis said that it was all to be done inside. Nobody knows the true nature of the King's desire to do good except for the Queen, and the only place they can discuss that is in privacy. The secret of yichud (unity) of Yom Kippur is that there is only Hashem and Knesses Yisrael (the Jewish people), represented by the Kohen Gadol. When the Kohen Gadol would come out after doing the ketores, there would be a great simcha (joy), knowing that Hashem really does love us. When the Queen prepares something for the King in front of him, it is a revelation of her love for him. Yom Kippur is the aspect of the second set of luchos (tablets), the Torah Sh'B'al Peh (the Oral Torah). At Kol Nidrei, Hashem says, "Stop, and come to me."
