Does the principle of "Shomeah Ke'ona" operate in Kriat Shema & its Berachot, in Tefilla, Torah study, and Birchat HaMazon? The Yerushalmi says NO! In this shiur we will try to explain the Yerushalmi and establish that the Rambam accepts the Yerushalmi. Although Shomea Keoneh does not operate, the Rambam paskens that the response of Amen is effective and generates a kiyum. But when and why? These are the issues we will address.
